Whitesands School  ·  Lekki, Lagos

Duc in Altum.

Launch into the deep.

Twenty-five years of forming boys for what comes next.

Welcome

Welcome to Whitesands.

Whitesands opened its doors in October 2000, with a small intake of boys and a single conviction — that a school is, first, a community of parents, teachers and students working towards the same end.

Twenty-five years later, we have grown into one of the most respected schools in Lagos. Our classrooms are full, our academic results consistently rank among the strongest in the country, and our chapel still sits at the centre of the campus.

More than a thousand boys have graduated from Whitesands. They are doctors, engineers, lawyers, founders and fathers. What they share is a formation — intellectual, moral and spiritual — that began here.

Where they go

Over seventy percent of Whitesands boys continue their studies abroad. At Harvard, Imperial, Oxford, LSE, MIT, and Toronto.

Eighteen graduating classes. More than one thousand alumni. Twenty-five years.

Six houses, one school

The boys belong to a house. The houses make the school feel small.

  • Alps

    Mascot — Ibex

    A house known for tenacity.

  • Appalachians

    Mascot — Black Bear

A house with deep roots and patient strength.

  • Andes

    Mascot — Condor

    A house that runs long.

  • Atlas

    Mascot — Lion

A house that carries its weight, quietly.

  • Himalayas

    Mascot — Snow Leopard

A house that climbs higher than the rest.

  • Pyrenees

    Mascot — Golden Eagle

A house that holds its line.

House team assignments are made to keep competitions balanced. Every boy is in a house for life.

What we believe

Three things that hold the school together.

01

Parental involvement

Parents are the first and primary educators of their children. At Whitesands, we work in close partnership with families — through regular tutorials, mentoring conversations and a shared formation programme — so that the school and the home pull in the same direction.

02

Integral education

We educate the whole person — intellect, character and faith — not in separate compartments, but as a single, coherent formation. Academic excellence, virtue, and a serious life of prayer belong together, and shape one another.

03

Personalised attention

Every boy meets one-on-one with a personal mentor throughout his time at the school. Class sizes stay small. Teachers know each child by name, and follow his growth closely — academically, personally and spiritually.

Parents on Whitesands

What families say after a few years.

  • Engineer Shok Julius

    Whitesands Parent

What I see in my son after these years at Whitesands is a young man who carries himself well — confident, respectful, and clear about what he believes.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Afuba

    Whitesands Parents

We considered many schools. Whitesands stood out for the quality of the staff and the depth of pastoral care. We have never regretted the decision.
  • Andrew Eze

    Parents as the First Educators

The school genuinely treats parents as the first educators of our children. That partnership is what makes Whitesands different.
